Who is Rama?
Rama is the hero of the Ramayana, one of the two great epics of India. He is a prince who gives up his throne to keep his father’s promise, then spends fourteen years in the forest facing demons, losing his wife Sita, and raising an army of monkeys to win her back.
Rama is loved because he always tries to do the right thing, even when it costs him everything. He is called Maryada Purushottam, which means the perfect man who follows every rule of honor. His return home after defeating the demon king Ravana is the reason Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated.
