Karna
Who is Karna?
Karna is the most tragic hero of the Mahabharata. He is generous, brave, and loyal, and many say he was the greatest warrior of his time. But he was born to a queen who abandoned him, raised as a charioteer’s son, and insulted for his low birth his whole life. Every good quality he has is tested by a cruel fate.
Karna’s story asks a hard question: what makes a person good, their birth or their choices? He chooses loyalty to his friend Duryodhana over doing what is right, and that choice destroys him. Kids remember Karna because his story feels unfair, and unfair stories make us think the hardest.
